8 things you should be doing instead of checking AdSense

Do you want to know why your AdSense earnings aren't ever increasing?

Earlier this month I did a post titled the Best Blogging Tip Ever. It's quite a short post, but it really does make a good point. Here's a quote that I pulled from the post.

"Some people become so addicted to checking their blogging statistics that they end up forgetting how they got where they are in the first place."

It's true too. Right when I began making pennies on the dollar with AdSense, my earnings began to fluctuate. The reason: I was simply checking my AdSense statistics way more than I needed to be.

In Reality: I was checking my AdSense statistics more than I was doing any actual work.

I then sat to myself thinking: "How come my earnings aren't increasing?" I'm rarely unprofessional in any of my blog posts at Video Blogging Tips, but I believe that this bold comment of mine deserves a LMAO.

Anyway, it took me awhile and a few hundred dollars down the drain to realize that the only thing that was really preventing me from increasing my earnings was myself. I was making things more complicated than they had to be by looking for a lazy way out.

Coming to reality with AdSense

After all of this had occurred, I began to realize that making money with AdSense wasn't going to be possible if I continued to just sat around expecting it to happen.

That's when I began to do some of the things below instead of checking my AdSense ads.

In return, my earnings slowly began to increase.

8. Hanging out with family and friends.

friends jennifer annistonNo matter how many times you check your AdSense statistics they're not going to increase. I realize that some of us would be rich if this were the case, but that's not how it works. With that being said, stop refreshing your AdSense page in a hope for more money.

Instead, go hang out with your family and friends. Go play video games. Go workout. Do something else. But don't waste you're time refresshing your AdSense page. Image Source: Friends

7. Researching blogging tips

Instead of checking your AdSense statistics, read some tips that will actually help you better your blog or blogs. Here are some of my favorite blogging tip based websites.

By researching and learning a little more about blogging, you will learn to better yourself and again, better your blogs. And a better blog for you means more money for you. That's always a good thing.

6. Engage in communities

Remember that post I did about increasing traffic via social networking. By taking a few minutes out of your day you can gain loads of targeted traffic to your website through social networking sites such as Yahoo Answers and FaceBook.

Here are some other good traffic sources

  • Youtube - Works extremely well!
  • Forums - Definitely work well!
  • Myspace - Depends your niche.

5. Replying to readers questions and comments

replying to readersAvoiding or disregarding readers questions and comments is probably the worst thing that you can do for your blog. By ignoring your reader, their comment will feel useless, wasted, and pointless. They won't come back for more. So be sure that you always take all of your readers seriously. Respond to every comment as soon as you possibly can. Image Source: Reading

4. Building relationships online

You're letting other bloggers know that you're a resource. You're letting them know that you want to share some of your success with them. In return, they will do the same for you. 3. Researching SEO

It's always important that you understand the concept of Search Engine Optimization for if your blog isn't Search Engine Optimized, it's not going to get any organic traffic anyway. With that being said, SEO is something that you definitely need to understand.

2. Building Backlinks

fast blog finderWhether you're using Fast Blog Finder or you're using some of my other link building strategies, it's always important to get high page rank backlinks. You can also look at my tips on how to get backlinks if you're having trouble.

By building backlinks to your site, you'll begin to rank higher in the search engines.

1. Writing Posts

If you don't write any articles, you're not going to get anywhere. Instead of checking your AdSense statistics for three hours straight, try writing some articles. For writing articles is how you began making money in the first place correct? Don't waste your time looking for "back doors." Continue to write posts and it will eventually pay off.

Have that extra time to get a post in? Then do it. Write a post and set it to post for tomorrow. Or simply post it now. The more posts you do, the more Google likes you.

Coming to reality with AdSense

Understand that AdSense is a powerful tool. However, if you think it's easy money you're completely wrong. You have to learn to control yourself. Don't lose site of what's truly important when it comes to blogging. If you don't lose your site and you continue to fight for success, you will be successful.

Thanks man. I figured a lot of people make the same mistakes with AdSense so I figured this would be something good to talk about.

Dang I see you got a PR3. I have no idea why my PR didn't increase. It happens though.
