AdSense Relevant Ads

I recently wrote an all in one AdSense Tips post that basically discusses everything that you need to know about AdSense. Well, almost everything. That is until I noticed something quite interesting on one of my sites with AdSense.

The ads were not relevant to the provided content.

This is obviously a major problem for if you're not displaying relevant ads, nobody is going to click. It doesn't matter how well your ads are placed and how well they're blended. Nobody is going to click an AdSense advertisement that isn't relevant to the content you're providing.

Fixing Ad Relevancy

There are three known solutions to this issue. If possible, I would implement every solution into your website or blog so you can maximize AdSense revenue.

Increase CTR Niche Blogging

If you're blogging on a niche, the AdSense advertisements that appear are that much more likely to be relevant than if you're not. With that being said, try to stick to a specific topic on your blog. The more specific your topic is, the more clicks you'll end up receiving.

Section Targeting

There is special AdSense coding that allows you to tell the AdSense bot what code you'd like it to target the most.

If you want the AdSense bot to target a specific area

If you want the AdSense bot to ignore a specific area

Placement

AdSense ad placement is also very important. If you have an ad at the bottom of your page that is more relevant than the ad at the top of your page, you may want to place the ad at the top of your page in your left sidebar, then the ad at the bottom of your page to the top of the page.

This is usually quite rare because most of the time, the AdSense ads that come first in your HTML will be the most relevant to the content you've provided. However, this isn't always true. See the picture at my article titled less ads more money AdSense and you'll see that whoever has the highest bid will take the top spot for the AdSense ads.

With that said, you'll need to learn to look at your ads to see what placements will deliver the most relevant ads for your. This is a "last resort" type of deal, however, it really can increase your CTR.

Results - Increase in Earnings

I followed the above steps and my AdSense CTR increased and more importantly, so did my earnings. Try it for yourself. I almost guarantee that if you display AdSense relevant ads, your earnings will increase.
