This message is driving me off the wall. I am using Trend Micro and every time I open my laptop the message below comes up. please stay off the internet until your parents can open trend micro
Does anybody know how to make this go away? I am sick of seeing, "Please stay off the internet until your parents can open trend micro internet security and fix the Parental Controls for you. After that, you can restart the computer and use the internet." Seriously. Anyone know how to fix this?

How to fix this error

Apparently, the following will fix the error. Kindly refer to the information below to fix the issue.
1. Close all open programs on your computer. If the Trend Micro Internet Security main console is open, close it.
2. Click Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro Internet Security > Trend Micro Support Diagnostic Toolkit. Note: If you are using Windows Vista, right-click on Trend Micro Support Diagnostic Toolkit then select Run as administrator. If a User Account Control window appears, click Continue, or enter the password for an administrator account then click OK.
3. Click the [A] General tab.
4. Under \"Start and Quit\", click 2. Quit All Components.
5. Close all windows
6. Open My Computer and click the C: drive
7. Double click the Program Files folder to open.
8. Double click the Trend Micro folder.
9. Look and double click the Internet Security folder to open
10. Open the Profile folder.
11. Check if there files that has an extention name of “.USR†and “.PEX†, if there are, please delete them. Examples format of the file (abcd can be any letters and/or numbers): abcd.usr abcd.pex
12. Restart you computer.
13. Open your Diagnostic Toolkit (Step #2).
14. Click the [A] General tab.
15. Under \"Start and Quit\", click 1. Start All Components
16. Restart you computer.

I HAVE THIS SAME ANNOYING PROBLEM!!! I CONTACTED TREND MICRO, THEY GAVE ME 2 SOLUTIONS, AND NEITHER OF THEM WORKED!!! I TOLD THEM THAT AND IF THEY DON'T GIVE ME A WORKING SOLUTION I WOULD UNINSTAL THEIR SOFTWARE!!!

Joe - I completely understand where you're coming from. However, what would we go to next? Norton? Lol.

It's kind of like Comcast / EA Sports. Once they rule all, they could completely give a crud about customer service.

BUMP.. this is really annoying has been on my machine for about 5 days now.

You don't have to bump. Lol This is a blog. Anyway, you're lucky. I've had this issue for a month.

I have the same problem. I have contacted technical support about this, and tried all the solutions they sugested , only reinstalling Trend fixed the problem. But recently the warning comes back. Any new solutions other than reinstall it again and again?

Not that I know of. This is truly a pain. Personally, I have just learned to ignore the message.

It's really annoying I have it too. If your Laptop turns off due to low battery, and you have to continue with system resume you have to close everything internet related before you can start the internet again (google chrome).
My parents have tried setting up parental controls but it doesn't go away i've had it for like a month now. Please notify me when there is a solution. Thanks

I have had Trend Micro stuff for about 2 years now and have really loved it. This message has never popped up until recently so it must have been introduced in the 2009 version as I am just now seeing this message.

Th parental controls work as I have used before, but I get this message on my laptop as well where I don't have/need controls activated.

I saw one suggestion to disable the TM Proxy service but that sounds like a *very* bad idea.

It's just some sort of error. It's quite frustrating. I have heard of people reinstalling Trend with no success. I've also heard of people contacting Trend support. Still, no success.

I love the last answer! I too have three computers all running Trend 2009 and they all have the same error message, they have been reinstalled several times and eventually it comes back.

I’ve been getting the same popup every logon, which has only started recently. TM has a problem, but they’re retarded

Received the following from Trend yesterday which resolved the issue at least temporarily. Sounds like they have a bug and are working on an update to permanently resolve it but these steps are a lot easier then having to reinstall.

11. Check if there files that has an extention name of “.USR” and “.PEX”, if there are, please delete them.
Examples format of the file (abcd can be any letters and/or numbers):
abcd.usr
abcd.pex
12. Restart you computer.
13. Open your Diagnostic Toolkit (Step #2).
14. Click the [A] General tab.
15. Under \"Start and Quit\", click 1. Start All Components
