post titles above adsense ads

Awhile back I did a post on how to place AdSense in Blogger Posts. By doing this, you will greatly increase AdSense CTR. However, doing this incorrectly could get you banned from AdSense. See my other AdSense Tips.
I want to emphasize the importance of putting some sort of "sponsored links" or "advertisements" above the ad to separate the AdSense ads from the post title.
post titles above adsense adsI know that they tell you not to do this because you will get less clicks.
However, what would you rather have?
  • Less AdSense clicks?
  • Banned AdSense account?

But I heard I don't have to say "Sponsored Links."

Here's the deal. You don't have to say "sponsored links" unless your advertisement is below some sort of title.
Simply look at what I did in the above image. This will save me a great deal of trouble with AdSense. Had I not had the "Sponsored links" written there, I would probably and eventually be banned from AdSense.

Why are post titles above ads an AdSense problem?

EXAMPLE:
Smoking Hot deals
-------------------
Hot cars here
$100.00 mustangs
www. mustang dude . com
OR
Smoking Hot deals
-------------------
Advertisement
Hot cars here $100.00 mustangs
www. mustang dude . com

See the difference?
  • The first example is very misleading. It makes the readers believe the AdSense advertisement is the post corresponding to the post title.
  • However, the second example is not misleading. It lets the readers know that the AdSense advertisement is in fact just an advertisement. As it may relate to the post title, it's not misleading the reader in any way.

On the AdSense safe side...

If you're getting loads of traffic to your site I doubt that this will really affect you anyway. Sometimes with AdSense, it's better to play safe than be sorry. That's why you should always put "sponsored links" or "advertisements" below your post titles and above your AdSense ads. Either that, or post a paragraph of content below your post title and above your AdSense ad.

Yes..I added "ADVERTISEMENTS" between title n ads so as to separate them and thus to make it look nice.

Has your CTR gone up ever since you put the ad below your title?

No i didn't got any special increase in CTR..but let's hope it do well after some weeks.

Your CTR hasn't gone up at all? Now that is weird. Anytime you put the ads where yours are your CTR should go up. Then again, you're blogging about blogging and when you do that, it's kind of hard to do well with AdSense

Taylor, do you think my site is safe or not?

Hey John. I think I already wrote you back, but it's probably not safe. The ads are right under the post titles... Not to mention the fact that you have them displaying more than 3 times

John Smith said...

Wait... I have only 3 adsense for content ads being displayed. Right? Isn't this ok?

Taylor said...

You have 6 being displayed. You just can't see the other three. That's one thing that sucks about Blogger. You can only display ads in sidebars or on specific post pages otherwise you're violating AdSense TOS.

Since you can't see the other three, it should be ok...right?

Nope. It's not... How to put it... It'd be like if you took an AdSense code and pasted it into a sidebar widget 6 times. Only 3 ads would show, but you'd be breaking TOS by using the code more than 3 times.

You can ask people from Digital Point forums. But trust me, I made this mistake and went through it a while ago.
