Denny Chin is the judge that sentenced Bernie Madoff to Life in Prison. Actually, it was a maximum sentence of 150 years for Madoff, and although that seems like a long sentence for a crime like fraud, Denny Chin had his reasons.
"This kind of manipulation of the system is not just a bloodless crime that takes place on paper, but one instead that takes a staggering toll."
Victims agreed and were pleased with the decision that Judge Denny Chin made. Bernie Madoff's lawer on the other hand, tried to reduce the sentence to 12 years, as Madoff's life expectancy is 13 years. However, he wasn't successful in reducing the sentencing.
A recent poll at NY Daily News shows that most people agree with Judge Denny Chin. One individual even stated a similar comment to the following,
"Michael Jackson is dead. Farrah Fawcett is dead. Billy Mays is Dead.... Finally some good news this week"
People seem to be extremely happy with Judge Denny Chin's decision. However, those individuals affected by Bernie Madoff's scheme will likely never recover.
