LaVonda King, 23, was amongst 5 of the individuals who died in the DC Metro Accident which happened yesterday (Monday. June 22nd, 2009). Those who also died were
- Mary Doolittle, 59, northwest Washington
- Ana Fernandez, 40, Hyattsville
- Dennis Hawkins, 64, northwest Washington
- Lavonda King, 23, northeast D.C.
According to the Washington Examiner, King was on her way to pick up her sons from daycare. This information was provided by LaVonda King's close friend, Danita Delaney. Delaney said that Lavonda was "prim and proper." She also made note that she was "very ladylike."
Sources also say she had just purchased a hair salon in Forestville naming it, “LaVonda’s House of Beauty.” This train accident took Lavonda's life, which leaves behind 2 sons, a fiance, and the rest of her family and friends. This train accident is truly a tragedy. May those who were close to LaVonda come close, and may she rest in peace.
