Henry Louis Gates made things interesting for a police officer who was only following procedures. (Gates Police Tapes RELEASED!) The interesting event landed gates 4 hours in jail, which is obviously branded with his very own mugshot.
According to Promomami, Henry Louis Gates, a Harvard Professor with a million certificates to prove it, was just arriving home from a China Vacation. Upon trying to get into his house, Gates noticed that his door was locked. He tried to break in, and that's when a passerby called police.
As you could imagine, Henry Louis Gates, who is a 58-year-old African American man, was very frustrated with the police officer. Being arrested at his own home for doing nothing wrong; That probably reminded Gates of how things 'used to be.' The 50's, 60's, and even 70's, weren't that long ago folks.
