As I reported yesterday, Mexico shut down Cancun beach because of the Gran Caribe Real Hotel stolen sand incident. If you didn't hear what happened, 3 individuals that worked for the hotel came up with this bright idea to pump sand from the ocean floor up onto their beach.
Patricio Patron, Mexico's attorney general for environmental protection said, Today we made the decision to close this stretch of ill-gotten, illegally accumulated sand. This hotel was telling its tourists: ‘Come here, I have sand … the other hotels don't, because I stole it.'"
New reports are coming in today stating that the beach is now closed off by two rows of police tape. According to the New American, one of the best way to attract new tourists is by having white beaches, but it looks like the only thing these 3 did was piss a bunch of people off.
Think about it, if you were staying in Mexico, what would you be wanting to do? Hanging out at the beach right? So if Mexico shuts down Cancun beach, you're pretty pissed, right? I think so.
Currently, it's unknown to when the beach will open back up. Hopefully, it will open soon for the tourists, but again, this information isn't currently available.
